Fielding - Infield and Outfield Training

Fielding is such a fundamental aspect of the game, yet without proper form and techniques even the good athletes are setup for failure. Coach Caz strives to reinforces good habits and eliminate bad ones by executing every drill with precision. This will be the only way a player will develop proper muscle memory so that during a game, when the pressure is on and the stakes high, she performs flawlessly without even thinking.

Extra care will be taken to grow and strengthen players throwing arms, while be taught every possible throw a fielder might be required to make during a game

All Infielders will be taught the proper mechanics in fielding ground balls, allowing for smooth and consistent play. Whether the ball is hit directly at them, to their forehand, backhand, short hop, etc. Infielders will have the confidence to make every play.

Attention will also be placed on position specific drills. 3rd Baseman’s will be able to handle hot shots or soft bunts. Short Stops will be able to range from side to side, or charge hard and throw across their body. 2nd Baseman’s will be able to pivot double plays and 1st Baseman’s will become the vacuum that is required for every ball thrown their way.

Outfielders will work on reading ball off bats to get the jump they need. Understand and execute the foot work required to handle balls hit in front of them, or over their heads. Be taught how to properly setup on Fly balls to throw out a runner attempting to take the next base. Or charging hard to scoop up a base hit to nail a runner at home plate.

All of the above are just a few examples of the skills that fielders will be taught by Coach Caz.
