Head Coach- Josh Smith

Coach Smith is originally from Greer, SC.  He played his high school ball at Greer High School and graduated in 2000. After graduating high school, he received a scholarship to play baseball at North Greenville University. He played college ball from 2000-2005. During his freshman and sophomore seasons he was used primarily as a pitcher. His junior and senior seasons he transitioned to starting in the outfield. After graduating college, Coach Smith has been coaching high school baseball for the past 16 seasons.  He was assistant coach at Christ Church Episcopal School for 2 seasons and also at Greer High School for 4 season before being hired as the Head Baseball Coach at Powdersville High School.  He started the baseball program at Powdersville High School and was the head there for 8 seasons.  He is entering his 12th year as Head Coach.  Following the 2014 season which saw the Patriots tie for 2nd in the region with a 10-4 region record and make the playoffs, Coach Smith was chosen as the Skyline Region Coach of the Year.  In 2016, the Patriots won a Region Championship, won a District Championship and made it to the Upper State Semifinal Game.  After winning the 2016 Region Championship, Coach Smith was chosen as the Skyline Region Coach of the Year.  Coach Smith was chosen as the Region Coach of the Year following the 2018 season which saw the Patriots win the region championship.  In 2020, Coach Smith was selected to coach in the North/South All Star Game.  That event was cancelled due to Covid.  He was then selected in 2022 as Head Coach for the North/South All Star Games.  His wife, MaryBeth is a Reading Coach at Hunt Meadows Elementary School and they have two daughters named Isabella and Emma Kate and a son that is due to be born in May 2020.
