Patriots season comes to an end, finish season with a 19-10 record and region championship
The Powdersville Patriots varsity baseball team's season ended on Monday, April 30 with a loss to Seneca in the District Championship. The Patriots won game 1 by a score of 5-3 but dropped game 2 by a score of 14-2. With the loss, the Patriots ended the season with a 19-10 overall record. The 2018 season saw a lot of bright moments including winning the Region Championship. This was the 3rd consecutive season the Patriots played for or won a region title, winning in 2016 and 2018. The Patriots have 5 seniors who will graduate this year. Brent Williams, Dylan Desena, Keith Becknell, Gavin Agin and Josh Bookbinder. For the past 3 seasons, this group has had a overall record of 61-26, won 2 Region Championships (2016, 2018), including a record of 29-5 in region play and won 2 District Championships (2016, 2017). Congratulations to all involved in making this another special season and good luck to our seniors in the future. Go Patriots!!

Gavin Agin and Josh Bookbinder selected to play in the North/South All Star Games
Congratulations to Gavin Agin and Josh Bookbinder on being selected to participate in the 2018 North/South All Star Games. The games will be played at Lexington High School and will take place on Monday, May 21 thru Wednesday, May 23. Congratulations again to these 2 fine young men! Go Patriots!!
Patriots defeat Seneca in game 1 of the District Championship game by a score of 5-3 but drop game 2
The Patriots defeated the Seneca Bobcats in game 1 of the district championship finals by a score of 5-3 to force a deciding game 2. Sophomore Chris Osment (7-1 record) picked up the win on the mound in game 1. With the win the Patriots improved to 19-9 (9-1) on the season and forced the deciding game for the District Championship. In game 2, Seneca won by a score of 14-2 to eliminate the Patriots from the playoffs and move on to the upper state. The Patriots finish the 2018 season with a 19-10 (9-1) overall record. Congrats on another sucessful season. Go Patriots!!
Patriots defeat Woodruff by a score of 9-1 to advance to District Championship Game on Monday
The Patriots defeated the Woodruff Wolverines on Saturday by a score of 9-1 in a elimination game. Junior Bobby Olsen pitched a complete game for the Patriots. With the win the Patriots improved to 18-9 (9-1) on the season and will now play in the District Championship on Monday, April 30 at Seneca High School. Game 1 will start at 6:00, Game 2 will start right after. The Patriots are looking to win their 3rd consecutive District Championship and return to the Upper State round for the 3rd consecutive season. Go Patriots!!
Patriots drop a tough game to Seneca by a score of 2-1
The Seneca Bobcats scored 2 runs in the top of the 7th inning with 1 out to defeat the Patriots by a score of 2-1. This was a great game between 2 very solids teams. The Patriots will play in the elimination game on Saturday with the hope of keeping their season alive. The Patriots record dropped to 17-9 (9-1) on the season. The Patriots will host the Woodruff Wolverines on Saturday with a game time of 2:00. Go Patriots!!
Patriots open playoffs with a win over Chester High School
The Patriots defeated the Chester Cyclones in the opening game of the playoffs on Wednesday night by a score of 9-2. Sophomore Chris Osment picked up the victory. With the win the Patriots improved to 17-8 (9-1) on the season. The Patriots will host the Senenca Bobcats on Friday night in the winners bracket game. Game time-6:30. Go Patriots!!
Patriots defeat Liberty by a score of 3-1
The Patriots finished the regular season with a 3-1 victory over the Liberty Red Devils. With the win, the Patriots improved to 16-8 overall and 9-1 in region. The Patriots will open the first round of the playoffs at home on Wednesday, April 25 against Chester. Game time-7:00. Go Patriots!!
Patriots win Region Championship
Region Champions! Congratulations to Powdersville Varsity Baseball on their 7-6 victory at Palmetto on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Palmetto got on the board first with two runs in the third, then Powdersville had two hot innings and took a 7-3 lead by the end of the fifth. Patriot defense held off a Mustang rally after Palmetto scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh and had a tying run on third base. What a great game!
Chris Osment got the Patriots started on the mound with Gibson Boyd earning the win and Bobby Olsen closing for the save. At the plate, Dylan Desena blasted a triple with two RBI’s, and Gavin Agin hit a double. Brandon Rowlands batted two for three, and Osment brought in two RBIs.
Powdersville (15-8 overall, 9-1 in the region) travels to Liberty on Friday, April 20, for a make-up game to finish the regular season.
Patriots drop game to Palmetto by a score of 7-3
Powdersville Varsity Baseball fell 7-3 at home in the first of a two game region series with Palmetto on Monday, April 16, 2018. Palmetto scored one in the first inning and added to their lead over the final three innings. Patriots rallied with three hits and three runs in the bottom of the seventh to make the final 7-3.
Powdersville (14-8 overall, 8-1 in the region) travels to Palmetto on Wednesday, April 18, at 6:30 pm for their final game of the regular season. A region championship and a more favorable position going into playoffs will be on the line! Looking forward to an exciting game! Go Patriots!!
Patriots win against Liberty by a score of 12-9
Congratulations to Powdersville Varsity Baseball on their 12-9 victory at home over Liberty on Thursday, April 12, 2018. Junior Bobby Olsen and Sophomore Gibson Boyd combined on the mound. Olsen helped himself at the plate with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Brandon Rowlands also hit a double and batted two-for-two with two RBIs. Other offensive leaders were Senior Gavin Agin, who batted two-for-three with three RBIs, and Sophomore Chris Osment who hit three-for-four.
With the win, Powdersville improves to 14-7 overall and 8-0 in the region. Patriots host Palmetto on Monday, April 16, at 6:30 pm to kick off the final series of regular season play. Go Patriots!!
Patriots defeat Pendleton on Senior Night
Congratulations to Powdersville Varsity Baseball on their 3-2 victory at home over Pendleton on Monday, April 9, 2018. Senior Josh Bookbinder went the distance on the mound, holding the Bulldogs to three hits. Bookbinder also led the Patriots at the plate with a homerun, a double, and a single, batting three-for-three. Senior Keith Becknell and Junior Reed Conklin also brought in an RBI each.
With the win, Powdersville improves to 13-7 overall and 8-0 in the region. Patriots host Liberty on Thursday, April 12. Go Patriots!!
Patriots defeat Emerald on Tuesday
The Powdersville Patriots varsity baseball team defeated the Emerald Vikings on Tuesday by a score of 6-1. Senior Josh Bookbinder picked up the win on the mound pitching a complete with 9 strike outs. The offense was led by Senior Gavin Agin and Junior Chase Gray who each had 2 hits on the night. With the win, the Patriots improved to 10-4 overall and 7-0 in the region. The Patriots will be back in action on Friday as they host Emerald. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. Go Patriots!!
Patriots sweep Carolina
The Powdersville Patriots varsity team swept the season series from the Carolina Trojans. The Patriots won game 1 on Thursday by a score of 12-0. Sophomore Chris Osment (4-0) picked up the win on the mound for the Patriots pitching a complete game shutout. The Patriots won game 2 on Friday by a score of 12-0 with Junior Bobby Olsen (2-3) pitching a complete game shut out. With the wins, the Patriots improved to 9-3 overall and 6-0 in the region. The Patriots will be back in action on Monday, March 26 as they travel to Pendleton for a non region game. Game starts at 6:00. Go Patriots!!
Patriots win 2 games against Southside
The Powdersville Patriots varsity baseball team won 2 region games against the Southside Tigers. Junior Ryan McNeely picked up the win in game 1 on Wednesday, March 14 by tossing a complete game shut out. Senior Josh Bookbinder picked up the win on the mound in game 2 on Wednesday, March 21 by a tossing a complete game shut out. With the wins, the Patriots improved to 7-3 overall and 4-0 in the region. The Patriots will be back in action on Thursday, March 22 as they travel to Carolina for another region match up. Go Patriots!!
Patriots sweep Berea
The Powdersville Patriots varsity baseball team swept the season series from the Bulldogs from Berea by scores of 13-1 on Thursday and 13-0 on Friday. Sophomore Chris Osment picked up the win on mound in Thursday's game and Junior Bobby Olsen picked up the win on the mound in Friday's game. With the wins, the Patriots improved to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the region. Go Patriots!!
Patriots lose 6-2 to Wren in game 2
The Wren Hurricanes defeated the Powdersville Patriots by a score of 6-2 on Friday Night. With the loss, the Patriots are 3-3 on the season. The Patriots open region play on Monday, March 12 with a DH at Southside. Game 1 starts at 5:00. Go Patriots!!
Patriots defeat the Wren Hurricanes by a score of 8-1
The Patriots defeated the Wren Golden Hurricanes by a score of 8-1 on Thursday, March 8. Senior Josh Bookbinder picked up the win on the mound pitching a completed game. Bookbinder struck out 11. The Patriots were led by Seniors Keith Becknell (3-4, 3 runs scored, 2 stolen bases), Senior Gavin Agin (2-5, 1 run scored, 3 RBI's, and a stolen base). With the win, the Patriots improve to 3-2 on the season. The Patriots will be back in action on Friday, March 9 as they host the Wren Hurricanes in game 2 of the series. Go Patriots!!
Patriots defeat Berea 13-3
The Powdersville Patriots varsity baseball team defeated the Berea Bulldogs by a score of 13-3 in 6 innings. Sophomore Chris Osment picked up the victory on the mound. With the win, the Patriots improved to 2-2 on the season. The Patriots open the regular season on Tuesday, March 6 at Wren. Go Patriots!!
Patriots lose 14-6 to Travelers Rest
The Patriots were defeated by the Travelers Rest Devildogs by a score of 14-6. The Devildogs were able to take advantage of some key errors by the Patriots defense. The Patriots fell to 1-2 on the season. The Patriots will be back in action on Friday, March 2 against the Berea Bulldogs to finish up the preseason tourament.
Patriots lose to Blue Ridge in 8 innings.
The Patriots lost a preseason game to the Blue Ridge Tigers on Saturday by a score of 4-1 in 8 innings. The Patriots led 1-0 going into the 7th inning but Blue Ridge was able to tie the game and eventually score 3 runs in the 8th to secure the win. With the loss, the Patriots fell to 1-1 on the season. The Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 27 against Travelers Rest.
Patriots open preseason tournament with a 6-2 victory over Pickens
The Powdersville Patriots varsity baseball team opened the preseason tournament with a 6-2 win over the Pickens Blue Flame. Sophomore Chris Osment picked up the win on the mound pitching 6 innings. With the win, the Patriots begin the season with a 1-0 record. The Patriots will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 24 against Blue Ridge. Game starts at 4:30
