The Powdersville Patriots Baseball Team finished the 2017 season with a overall record of 20-10. The was the second consecutive season with 20+ wins for the Patriots team. This was also the second consecutive season that they won a District Championship and made it to the Upper State Semifinal game. The Patriots finished 9-1 in Region 2 which tied for first place, however due to allowing more runs in the season series with Palmetto they finished in 2nd. A very sucessful season overall, especially considering this was the first year in 3A. The Patriots are seeing 6 seniors graduate this year. 4 of the seniors (Colton Barbary, Bradley Hogan, Paul Altieri and Ryan Powers) were apart of the very first JV team when the program first started. During the time they have been starters for the past 2 seasons they have contributed to a varsity team that has gone 42-16 overall, including 20-4 in region play, Won a Region Championship, Won 2 consecutive District Championships and made it all the way to the Upper State Semifinal game for 2 consecutive seasons. Colton Barbary and Paul Altieri were both selected to play in the North/South All Star Game. Congrats guys!! Great Job by everyone involved this year.

Patriots drop a heartbreaker to Mid-Carolina in Upper State Semifinals, finish season at 20-10
The Patriots dropped a heartbreaker on Monday night to Mid-Carolina in the Upper State Semifinals by a score of 4-3. With the loss, the Patriots season comes to an end. The Patriots finished the season with a 20-10 (9-1) record.
Patriots defeat Woodruff 4-3 to stay alive in the Upper States
The Patriots defeated Woodruff on Saturday by a score of 4-3 to keep there season alive. The Patriots will travel to Mid Carolina on Monday for a 7:00 game. The winner of the Powdersville/Mid Carolina Game will travel to Seneca on Wednesday for the Upper State Finals. Who ever plays Seneca will have to beat them two times to advance to State Championship. With the win, the Patriots improved to 20-9 (9-1) on the season. Go Patriots!!
Patriots drop first game of Upper State to Mid-Carolina by a score of 9-2
The Patriots dropped game 1 of the Upper State to Mid-Carolina on Friday by a score of 9-2. The Patriots will be back in action on Saturday in a elimination game against Woodruff. Game starts at 2:00 pm. The Patriots are 19-9 overall. We are hoping for a big crowd on Saturday. Go Patriots!!
Patriots host Upper State Game 1 on Thursday, May 4
The Patriots will host game 1 of the Upper State on Thursday, May 4 against the winner of Mid-Carolina and Emerald. This is the second consecutive year that the Patriots have played in the Upper States. The Patriots and 3 other teams will battle it out to see who will represent the Upper State in the State Championship. Go Patriots!!
Patriots win District Championship, move to 19-8 on the season
The Powdersville Patriots defeated the Camden Bulldogs in game 2 on Monday Night to win the District 4 Championship. The Bulldogs won the first game 2-0 to set up the decisive game 2 between the teams. Junior Josh Bookbinder picked up the victory on the mound pitching a complete game. Bookbinder allowed a run on 2 hits and struck out 5. Senior Colton Barbary went 2-3 on the night with a run scored. Junior Gavin Agin went 1-3 with 3 RBI's on the night to led to Patriots. With the win the Patriots improved to 19-8 (9-1) overall.
Patriots defeat Camden by a score of 9-1
The Powdersville Patriots defeated Camden on Thursday Night by a score of 9-1. Sophomore Bobby Olsen picked the victory on the mound pitching 6 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits and 2 strike outs. The Patriots were led at the plate by Junior Keith Becknell who went 3-4 on the night with 3 RBI's. Senior Colton Barbary and Sophomore Chase Gray also had 2 hits each on the night. The Patriots will now host the District Championships on Monday, May 1. Start time and opponent are to be determined. With the win, the Patriots improved to 18-7 (9-1) on the year. Go Patriots!!
Patriots defeat Pendleton in game 1 of the playoffs 3-0
The Powdersville Patriots defeated the Pendleton Bulldogs on Tuesday Night in game 1 of the playoffs by a score of 3-0. Junior Josh Bookbinder picked up the victory on the mound pitching a complete game shut out. Bookbinder struck out 6 and allowed 4 hits. The Patriots were led at the plate by Senior Colton Barbary who was 2-4 with an RBI. Sophomore Chase Gray also added 2 hits on the night. The Patriots will travel to Camden on Thursday, April 27 with a start time of 6:30. With the win, The Patriots improved to 17-7 (9-1) on the season. Go Patriots!!
Patriots open the 2017 Playoffs on Tuesday, April 25 at 6:30
The Patriots (16-7, 9-1) will open the 2017 Playoffs on Tuesday, April 25 at 6:30 as the Pendleton Bulldogs travel to Powdersville. Come out and support the Patriots as they are hoping for a big crowd. Go Patriots.

Patriots lose 9-5 to Palmetto
The Patriots dropped Friday's night game to Palmetto by a score of 9-5. The Patriots and Mustangs both finished 9-1 in the region and tied for 1st place. Palmetto was crowned Region Champions because they out scored the Patriots 13-10 in the 2 game season series. The Patriots will open up the playoffs on Tuesday, April 25 as Pendleton come to Powdersville. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30. Go Patriots!!
Patriots defeat Palmetto on Tuesday by a score of 5-4
The Patriots defeated the Palmetto Mustangs on Tuesday by a score of 5-4. With the win, the Patriots are in first place in the region and look to win the series on Friday night. With the win, the Patriots improved to 16-6 overall and 9-0 in region. Go Patriots!!
Patriots finish 2-2 in the Mingo Bay Classic
The Patriots finished the 2017 Mingo Bay Classic with a 2-2 record. The Patriots opened the tournament with a 1-0 loss to West Springfield High School, VA on Monday. They returned the field on Tuesday and defeated Cuthbertson High School, NC by a score of 10-7 in 11 inning. On Wednesday, The Patriots defeated Landstown High School, VA by a score of 4-1. Then on Thursday, The Patriots dropped a game to RJ Reynolds High School, VA by a score of 8-1. The Patriots return to action on Tuesday, April 18 as they travel to Palmetto for a important region game. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. Go Patriots!!
Patriots sweep Southside
The Patriots swept Southside on Thursday and Friday by scores of 17-0 and 15-0. With the wins, the Patriots improved to 12-4 overall and 8-0 in the region. The Patriots will be traveling to Myrtle Beach over Spring Break to play in the Mingo Bay Classic. Go Patriots!!
Patriots lose to Pendleton 6-5 in 8 innings
The Patriots lost to Pendleton on Tuesday Night by a score 6-5 in 8 innings. The Patriots jumped out to a 4-0 lead but the Bulldogs of Pendleton came back and eventually won the game in the 8th inning. The Patriots are back in action on Thursday, April 6 as they travel to Southside for a Region Contest. Game is scheduled for a 6:00 start. Go Patriots!!

With the win, The Patriots improved to 11-3 overall and moved to 6-0 in the region. The Patriots are back in action on Monday, April 3 at home against Pendleton in a non region game. The Patriots defeated Emerald on Tuesday Night by a score of 12-0 in a region game. Junior Josh Bookbinder pitched a no hitter on the night. Bookbinder struck out 8 on the night and walked 1. With the win, The Patriots improved to 10-3 overall and moved to 5-0 in the region. The Patriots will be back in action on Friday Night as they travel to Emerald and look to extend there win streak to 8. Go Patriots!!
Patriots win 2-1 against Liberty
The Patriots picked up a win against the Liberty Red Devils by a score of 2-1. Senior Colton Barbary and Junior Keith Becknell knocked in the runs for the Patriots on the night. With the win, the Patriots improved to 9-3 overall and remain 4-0 in region. The Patriots are back in action on Tuesday Night against the Emerald Vikings in a big region game. Go Patriots!!

The Patriots defeated the Carolina Trojans on Friday Night by a score of 11-0. Junior Jakob Fulmer picked up the win. The Patriots improved to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the region. The Patriots will be back in action on Monday, March 27 against Liberty Red Devils in a non region game. Go Patriots!!

The Patriots defeated the Carolina Trojans on Thursday Night by a score of 15-0. Senior Paul Altieri picked up the win. Altieri pitched 3 innings, allowed no hits. With the win, the Patriots improved to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the region. The Patriots travel to Carolina on Friday for another Region Game. Go Patriots!!
Patriots defeat the Liberty Red Devils 6-0
On Wednesday, The Powdersville Patriots defeated the Liberty Red Devils by a score of 6-0. Junior Josh Bookbinder picked up the win on the mound going 6 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits, no walks and striking out 2. The Patriots were led at the plate by Senior Bradley Hogan who was 2-4 on the night with a run scored and stolen base. Bookbinder also went 2-3 on the night. Senior Ryan Powers was 2-3 with a run scored and RBI on the night. With the win, the Patriots improved to 6-3 overall. The Patriots will be back in action on Thursday Night against the Carolina Trojans in a region contest. First Pitch is scheduled for 6:30. Go Patriots!!

The Powdersville Patriots defeated the Berea Bulldogs on Friday Night by a score of 10-0 in 5 innings. Sophomore Bobby Olsen threw a no hitter. Olsen's no hitter was the first in Powdersville 6 year history. The Patriots were led at the plate by Seniors Bradley Hogan, Paul Altieri and Junior Keith Becknell who all had 2 hits each. Altieri and Becknell had 3 RBI's each. With the win, The Patriots improved to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the region. The Patriots are back in action on Tuesday, March 21 as they travel to Pendleton High School. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. Go Patriots!!
Powdersville opens Region with a 7-0 victory over Berea
The Patriots opened the 2017 region play with a 7-0 victory over the Berea Bulldogs. Junior Josh Bookbinder picked up the victory on the mound, pitching 6 innings, allowing 3 hits, no runs, 1 walk and 8 strike outs. The Patriots were led at the plate by Junior Keith Becknell who went 3-4 with a run scored on the night. The Patriots had 10 hits on the night. With the win, The Patriots improved to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the region. The teams will play again on Friday night at Berea. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30. Go Patriots!!

Wren defeats the Patriots 11-1 on Friday Night
The Wren Hurricanes defeated the Powdersville Patriots 11-1 on Friday Night. The Patriots scored a run in the top of the first inning but the Hurricanes answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the second and never looked bad. The Patriots will look to rebound on Monday as they travel to Liberty. With the loss, the Patriots dropped to 3-3 overall. Go Patriots!!
Patriots drop a game to Wren 5-1
The Patriots were defeated on Wednesday Night by the Wren Hurricanes by a score of 5-1. Wren jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning and the Patriots were never able to battle back. The two teams will meet again on Friday night at Wren. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30. Go Patriots!!
Patriots win a thriller 2-1 over Blue Ridge!!
The Powdersville Patriots Varsity Baseball Team won a thrilling 2-1 game over Blue Ridge High School. Sophomore Bobby Olsen picked up the victory on the mound going 6 innings, allowing 2 hits, striking out 3. The Patriots were led at the plate by Junior Keith Becknell who went 2-4 with a stolen base, run scored and a RBI. Junior Gavin Agin also added a hit, run scored and stolen base. Senior Bradley Hogan also added a hit during the game. Junior Josh Bookbinder picked up the save in the 7th inning. With the win, the Patriots are 3-1 overall. The Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday, March 7th at home as Wren travels to Powdersville for a 6:30 game. Go Patriots!!

The Patriots varsity baseball team defeated Brashier Middle College on Monday, Feb. 27 by a score of 9-5. Sophomore Royce Carroll picked up the win on mound for Patriots pitching 4 2/3 innings, allowing 4 and striking out one. The Patriots were led at the plate by Junior Gavin Agin who had 2 hits, 2 stolen bases, scored 2 runs. Junior Dylan DeSena also went 2-3, with a run scored and a RBI. With the win, the Patriots improved to 2-1 on the season. They will be back in action on Thursday, March 2 against Blue Ridge High School. Go Patriots!!

Patriots open 2017 Season with a Win over Travelers Rest
The Powdersville Patriots Varsity Baseball Team opened the 2017 Season with a 3-2 Win over Travelers Rest High School on Friday, Feb. 24. The Patriots are playing in the DOGS Invitational which is hosted at Travelers Rest and Berea High School. Sophomore Bobby Olsen picked up the victory on the mound going 6 innings while striking out 4. Senior Paul Altieri picked up the save with a perfect 7th inning on 4 pitches. The Patriots were led at the plate by Gavin Agin, Colton Barbary, Paul Altieri, Bradley Hogan and Chase Gray. The Patriots will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 25 against Westside High School at Berea High School. Game time is scheduled for 4:00. Go Patriots!!
