Patriots season comes to an end

The Powdersville Patriots season came to end after losing to Saluda on Monday by a score of 6-0.  The Patriots finished the season with a overall record of 11-9 (10-4).  The Patriot Baseball Program would like to wish the best of luck to the only senior, Jordan Smith.  Jordan will be a member of the North Greenville University Football Program next season.  Go Patriots!!

Patriots win first playoff game in Powdersville History!!

The Powdersville Patriots defeated Batesburg-Leesville by a score of 9-6 on Saturday in a elimination playoff game.  The win marked the first playoff victory in the history of Powdersville High School.  The Patriots were led at the plate by Chase Ridder, Jordan Smith and Blake Jeter.  Ryan Powers picked up the win for the Patriots.  The Patriots will be back in action on Monday at 6 as they go back to Saluda for another elimination game.  The winner of the Powdersville/Saluda game will play Chesnee on Wednesday for the District Championship and a spot in the Upper State.  Go Patriots!!

Patriots sweep Carolina

The Powdersville Patriots defeated Carolina High School on Tuesday Night by a score of 11-0 and again on Wednesday Night by a score of 23-1.  Brandon Richeson picked up the win on Tuesday and Ryan Powers earned the win on Wednesday night for the Patriots.  This marked the 4th region series sweep on the season for the Patriots.  The wins improved the Patriots to a 10-4 region record and are currently in 2nd place.  *Liberty and Crescent play on Friday night and if Liberty wins they will tie with Powersville for 2nd.  If they tie, Liberty and Powdersville will play on Saturday, April 26 at 4:00 at Pendleton High School to determine 2nd place in region.

Patriots lock up Play-Off Spot.

With the win on Thursday night, the Patriots secured a Play-off spot for this year.  They are currently 3rd in the region with two region games remaining.  Play-offs begin on Thursday, May 1st.

Patriots sweep Blacksburg

The Powdersville Patriots defeated Blacksburg on Friday night by a score of 3-2, sweeping the season series between the two schools.  This marked the 3rd series this season the Patriots have swept a region team.  Ryan Powers earned the win on Friday night by growing a complete game.  Powers allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and also added 4 strikeouts.  The Patriots were led by Jordan Smith who added 2 hits on the night.  The Patriots improved to 8-6 overall and 8-4 in region play.  They are currently in 3rd place in the region.  They will be back in action on Tuesday, April 22 at 6:00.  

Patriots defeat Blacksburg 5-1

The Powdersville Patriots defeated the Blacksburg Wildcats on Thursday night by a score of 5-1.  Brandon Richeson picked up the win for the Patriots by pitching a complete game.  Richeson allowed one earned on seven hits and also had 4 strikeouts.  The Patriots were led at the plate by Jordan Smith, Blake Jeter and Colton Barbary who each had 2 hits on the night.  The Patriots improved to 7-6 overall and 7-4 in region play.  They will be back in action on Friday night at home with game time at 6:00.

Patriots sweep Pendleton

The Powdersville Patriots won both games against the Pendleton Bulldogs by a score of 1-0 on Thursday and 5-2 on Friday.  On Thursday, Brandon Richeson picked up the win for the Patriots by pitching a complete game shutout.  Richeson allowed 4 hits, no walks and had 4 strikeouts on 71 pitches.  On Friday, Ryan Powers picked up the win for the Patriots by pitching a complete game.  Powers allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and also had 3 strikeouts.  The Patriots now have won 5 region games in a row.  There overall record is 6-4 and 6-2 in the region.  The Patriots will be back in action on Thursday night against the Chesnee Eagles with first pitch at 6:00.  Go Patriots!!

Patriots take game 2 from Landrum

Powdersville defeated the Landrum Cardinals on Friday night by a score of 9-8.  Landrum jumped out to a 7-3 lead early but the Patriots continued to battle on a rain soaked night.  The score was tied at 8-8 in the bottom of the 7th inning when Colton Barbary singled to left with 1 out.  A balk and a groundout moved Barbary to 3rd with 2 outs.  Jordan Smith came to the plate with the winning run at 3rd.  Smith singled down the left field line for a walk off win for the Patriots.  Powdersville now has a 4-2 record in the region.  The Patriots will travel to Pendleton on Thursday, April 3rd for the start of another big region series.  Come out and support the Patriots.  Go Patriots!!

Patriots knock off Landrum 2-1 on Thursday

The Powdersville Patriots traveled to Landrum on Thursday night and defeated the Landrum Cardinals by a score of 2-1.  Landrum had a 5-0 record in the region before the defeat.  Brandon Richeson earned the victory for the Patriots by pitching a complete game.  Richeson allowed 1 run on 3 hits and had 2 strikeouts.  Landrum will travel to Powdersville for game 2 of the series on Friday night.  Powdersville has a 3-4 overall record and a 3-2 region record.  Go Patriots

Patriots defeat the Red Devils of Liberty on Friday

The Powdersville Patriots defeated the Liberty Red Devils on Friday night by a score of 5-3 in a region match up.  Ryan Powers earned the win with a complete game.  Powers allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits with 5 strikeouts.  The Patriots were led at the plate by Jordan Smith who went 3-3 on the night.  Chase Ridder, Blake Jeter-1 RBI, Hunter Brown-1 RBI , Chase Barbary and Colton Barbary-1 RBI  each contributed to the win with hits and RBI's.  Liberty entered the game undefeated and ranked 3rd in 2AA in the state.  Powdersville is currently 2-3 overall and 2-2 in region play.  The Patriots return to the field on Monday, March 24 at home against Berea in a non region match up.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:30.  Come out and support the Patriots.  Go Patriots!!

JV and Varsity games at Berea rescheduled for Wednesday, March 19

The JV and Varsity games at Berea have been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 19th.  JV plays at 5:30 with Varsity starting at 7:30.  Go Patriots

JV and Varsity games against Berea-Cancelled.

The JV and Varsity baseball games scheduled for Monday, March 17 at Berea have been cancelled due to weather.  A make up date will be determined later.

JV splits with Blacksburg

The Powdersville Patriots JV team split a Doubleheader with Blacksburg on Saturday.  The Patriots won the first game 1-0 on a great pitching performance by Blake Launius.  Blacksburg JV won game two by a score 14-4.

Patriots lose to Crescent

The Patriots were defeated by the Crescent Tigers on Friday night by a score of 8-6.  The Patriots were leading 6-3 going into the bottom of 5th inning but could not hold on to the lead.  The Patriots are now 1-1 (1-1) on the season.  The Patriots will be back in action at Berea in a non region match up on Wednesday, March 19th.  JV plays at 5:30, Varsity plays at 7:30

Patriots Win a Thriller!!

The Powdersville Patriots opened the 2014 season with a win by rallying in the bottom of the 7th to defeat the Crescent Tigers 4-3 on Thursday Night in region play.  The Patriots were trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the 7th before Nathan FitzSimmons started the inning off with a single.  JT Rowlands followed with a bunt single.  After a wild pitch, the Patriots had runners at 2nd and 3rd for Keith Becknell.  Becknell delivered a walk off hit that scored 2 runs and gave the Patriots the 4-3 victory.  Ryan Powers picked up the win for the Patriots.  Brandon Richeson started and pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing 5 hits, no earned runs and 9 strikeouts.  The Patriots were led at the plate by Keith Becknell, Blake Jeter and JT Rowlands who each had 2 hits on the night.  Chase Ridder and Nathan FitzSimmons each added a hit on the night also.  The Patriots will travel on Friday, March 14th to Crescent for another important region game.  Go Patriots!!
