The Kildonan cavaliers wish to thank Boyd Autobody for their 2 year sponsorship of the club.

Kildonan will be displaying the Boyd logo on their new white kit within the next few weeks.

This wouldn't have happened without the help of team member, Rob Burns.

Thank you Boyd for your partnership until 2012.

Cavs are Division Champs!!

With everything on the line, Kildonan had to grab a win to earn promotion and win the title for the 2011 season.

A tie or loss would mean 3rd place and missing promotion to D1 as well.

team top scorer, Morgan got the Cavs on the board with a well timed run and low, hard shot to beat the keeper.

Abdel followed up, receiving a cross which he dragged out and made his way to the net for another low shot and to beat the keeper.

Grantmill were awarded a soft penalty when christophe was judged to have handled the ball in the 18 yd box. Clearly it was ball to hand but the ref pointed to the spot and the kicker made no mistake against guest call up and ex Cav, Scott Keast

The penalty shot ended the first half and the 2nd half started with fresh legs and some tinkering with the lineup that produced some great through balls and runs toward the GM net. The ref waved them all offside, which again was suspect but the Cavs didn't need the help as they held onto the win which guaranteed them first place, a bye in the playoffs, and left Portage in 3rd place, who had just beat the Cavs 2 weeks ago 1-0.

Thanks to the entire team who made this run possible, when most games a "skeleton crew" showed up at best.

Thanks to Coach Jim who chose the right mix of players to make this accomplishment happen.

Next up is playoffs on the 23rd at the soccer complex. Cavs play the winner of portage/euro selects

1 Win from the title

Kildonan is 1 win away from claiming the 2011 Division 2 crown with either a win over Portage on Friday or Grant mill rovers on september 8th.

Kildonan would like to seal it up on friday but expect tough opposition from the Portage team when they play them friday, 10 pm at the Waverley Complex.

Portage hasn't lost since july 5th and have benefited from 2 teams defaulting wins to give them a current 3rd place in the standings, 3 points behind Pescara who are also challenging Kildonan for the title.

With Morgan Wyman leading the team with 19 goals this season, and the Cavs boasting the best GA in the division, this is a perfect time to win the crown.

Credit to Coach Jim and the players on the squad for helping Kildonan get to this point. It now rests in their hands.

Cavs maintain unbeaten streak

Despite leading the game and then going behind, Kildonan pulled off a come from behind tie in the 89th minuted to tie the game up at 2, and maintain Kildonan's unbeaten streak to 7 wins and 2 ties, good enough for a first place spot.

Morgan Wyman got both goals which was the result of good passing leading up and some individual skill from Morgan.

Kildonan bids farewell to Daniel Lee who head's back home for the summer. Daniel was a welcome addition and wish him the best of luck in his academic studies.

Next up is Stonewall on the 12th in Stonewall.

Cavs unbeaten in 6

Kildonan faced New Youth United tonight at Vince Leah and went up 3 goals in the first 20 min. and hung on to the win to continue their unbeaten streak of 6 games and add another win to the season.

Kildonan face GrantMill Rovers on Tuesday night in the hope of continuning their unbeaten streak. Currently GM sit in first place with 18 points and a game in hand on the Cavs, with the Cavs sitting with 16 points and could take first place with a win.

Game takes place at Vince Leah field #1

Kildonan make it 4 in a row

Kildonan made it 4 wins in a row by downing Kenaston at Vince leah.

Kenaston had the benefit of the win in the first half, but were ineffective in their long ball approach, with the Cavs defenders up to the task of stopping them.

It ended 0-0 and the 2nd half was a different story. Kenaston gave up 3 penalties in the box, with Kildonan awarded 3 penalty shots.

Abdel converted 2 and Daniel one to go up 3-0

Kenaston was awarded a pk as well, but shot it too high, not testing Tyler in net.

Clayton added the 4th late in the half, an easy tap in to seal off the win.

Kildonan next faces Pescara, Tuesday the 14th at Vince leah #2. Kildonan has allowed only 2 goals in 4 games, and have benefited by having 4 shut-outs this season.

Game tonight canceled

The game between Cavaliers and Rangers has been cancelled for tonight due to the rain in the city for the past couple of days.

Aeros drop opener

The Portage Aeros weren't able to take flight in their Manitoba Major Soccer League opener, falling 2-1 to the Kildonan Cavaliers.

Aeros head coach Chad Green felt that the Aeros came out well, taking a 1-0 first-half lead on a Ben Wettlaufer goal, but slipped defensively in the second half, spotting Kildonan a pair.

"First half, I thought we played really well. In the second half, we didn't play the way we were supposed to," said Green. "We pretty much were non-existent defensively. We just let them run the attack and they just kept getting shot after shot."

Green said that the main aspect of the defence that needed to be tightened up was the effort.

"We got lazy. We just quit running," said Green. "As soon as the second half started, they just started taking it to us. We quit running, quit moving, just started letting them do what they wanted.

"Defensively as a whole, we just weren't very good."

It wasn't just those in defensive positions not contributing, as Green said that all players on the field have a role to play.

"Guys getting back and helping out. It's all the way from our forwards back. When the other team has the ball, everybody's got to play a part in the defence," said Green. "Our midfields got lazy and started walking back, so the other team was outnumbering us on their attack and that made it easier for them to get a quality scoring chance."

Much of the game was played in raining conditions, including a downpour in the second half. Green felt that the wet conditions had some impact on the game's outcome.

"On the goals, it did. It made it very hard for the goalies to hold onto (the ball). Our first goal and their first goal came off of a rebound that, normally, our goalies would have been able to hold onto," said Green. "Other than that, it affected both teams the same way."

With much of the roster returning last year, Green said that there weren't any real surprises with his lineup, though some of the tinkering worked and some didn't.

"We're still trying guys in a few different spots," said Green. "I did realize that there were a couple guys that couldn't play certain positions.

"Most of them were with me last year, so nothing was really a surprise."

The goal scorers for the game was Jake Peloquin and new signing Silvano Munilla who ended up getting the game winning goal.
