Kildonan prepares for playoffs
Kildonan season wrapped up with a default win over Spitfire who only had 7 players show to the field.
This left the Cavs in 4th place with an 11-7-0 record for 33 points. A good accomplishment for their first year in D1 and only missing out of 2nd place by 7 points
Kildonan will prepare for the playoffs and evaluate some potential new players for indoor in September.
September 4th, 6th and 12th the Cavs will be practicing at RB Russell school on Dufferin Ave. 7pm sharp.
Anyone interested in joining the team for indoor should come out for the practices.
Cavs do the double

Cavs made history by claiming their first double in their history with a late winner over a resilent Pescara 1-0 at the complex.
On a cool afternoon and strong wind, both sides had chances in the 2nd half.
The Cavs were against the wind and had the balannce of play and control in the first half, limiting Pescara's opportunities.
Ending the first half scoreless and going against the wind was seen as a positive moving into the 2nd.
Pescara came out stronger with the Cavs re-adjusting their players and seemed to be caught a few times on breaks but Phil in net was up to the task
A counter-attack midway through the half allowed Clayton to go one on one breakaway with the Pescara keeper and a defender not far behind.
The Pescara keeper came out with a huge save and to keep the score level.
Everything changed in the 89th minute. With only a few possible minutes of extra time , pescara seemed to stop dead in their tracks as they were waiting for a whistle on a possible foul that never came.
Brian took the opportunity to feed the ball out wide to a streaking Silvano who gave it his all to cross a perfect ball to the far post that was met by an out of position Jake who rose high and headed the ball past the keeper to get the only goal of the game.
The ref whistled the game a few minutes later and the Cavs recorded their first playoff final win since 1998.
Add to their first league win since 2001, exactly 10 years earlier, finished off an incredible season.
Credit to coach Jim for helping make this team into champs and the whole team whom this would not have been possible without the dedication.
Another record was broken by first year striker Morgan Wyman. Morgan set a Cav's record of top goal scorer with 21 goals in the season, passing the record set by Assane Ndiaye and Brent Stevenson who at their best had 15 goals in the season.
Next up in indoor at the U of M in Division 2 of the MMSL.
Terrible start
The Cavs got off to the worst possible start being on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline against Celtics.
6 minutes in Phil was judged to have brought an attacking player down in the 18 yard box, despite not being the last guy back. The ref wrongly showed Phil the red and with the ensuing penalty shot had to put Josh in net and was unable to stop the shot
The cavs were discplined to hold on for the entire first half and keep the scoreline at 1-0
2nd half was different and the Cavs succumbed to the constant pressure. A 2nd goal on a questionable offside, some defensive errors and another red card in the 65th minute left the cavs 2 men down to face Celtic for the rest of the game. Celtic added 2 more and handed the cavs their first loss.
Next up is NKMB Saints whom the Cavs haven't played in close to 10 years.
Game takes place monday at 10 pm at the waverley soccer complex.
