260 NWWC athletes traveled to 12 states over the 2023-2024 Freestyle, Folkstyle, Greco-Roman and Beach wrestling seasons to compete in 70 wrestling tournaments. Throughout the course of competition, NWWC earned 96 WSWA state championship medals, 27 individual state titles, five USAW All-American honors, one national championship and one world medal. As a team, NWWC placed third at the WSWA Folkstyle State Championships, fourth at the WSWA Greco-Roman State Championships and first-place at the WSWA Freestyle State Championships. Of the 5,484 sanctioned USAW clubs, NWWC ranked 7th in the nation. Congratulations to all the NWWC wrestlers, family and friends on an excellent year in wrestling.

2024 Beach Brawl 3-Style Throw Down (WA)
Four NWWC wrestlers traveled down to Illwaco, WA over the weekend of August 3rd to compete at the 2024 Beach Brawl 3-Style Throw Down. Over the two days of competition, NWWC tallied up 24 matches and traveled home with 19 wins, eight medals and four individual championships. Congratulations to all four NWWC wrestlers.

2024 USMC/USAW Junior & 16U Nationals (ND)
Two NWWC high school wrestlers traveled to Fargo, ND over the week of July 12th to compete for Team Washington at the 2024 USMC/USAW Junior & 16U National Championships. Over the course of the tournament, NWWC wrestled nine matches defeating athletes from Arkansas, Ohio and California. The 2024 USMC/USAW Junior & 16U National Championships is recognized as the world's largest wrestling competition with over 8,000 entries from all 50 states, Guam and other US Territories. Congratulations to Team Washington and both NWWC wrestlers.

2024 North Coast Beach Wrestling Championships (WA)
Eleven NWWC beach brawlers traveled to Ocean Shores, WA on Saturday, July 6th to compete at the 2024 North Coast Beach Wrestling Championships. Over the course of the tournament, NWWC wrestled 26 matches and finished with 21 wins and seven individual championships. Congratulations to all eleven NWWC brawlers.

2024 USAW Kids Nationals (IA)
NWWC’s Jordan Dunigan of Silverdale, age 8, traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa over the weekend of June 28th to compete among the nations best youth wrestlers at the 2024 USAW Kids Freestyle & Greco-Roman National Championships. Over the course of the tournament, Ms Dunigan wrestled boys from Maryland, Pennsylvania, California and Illinois and finished 5th in 8U, 85-lb division. Congratulations to NWWC's Jordan Dunigan.

2024 USAW 14U National Duals (PA)
Four NWWC wrestlers traveled to Oaks, Pennsylvania over the week of June 10th to compete for Team Washington at the 2024 USAW 14U National Duals. Over the course of four days of fierce competition, the fearsome foursome racked up 43 matches and combined for 19 victories. William Moran of Gig Harbor, age 14, capped the four-man performance with an undefeated record and an All-Tournament Team selection in Greco-Roman. 2024 U20 World Team Trials (OH)
NWWC’s Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 18, traveled to Geneva, Ohio over the weekend of May 30th to compete for a spot on the 2024 U20 US World Team. Over the course of competition, Michaelson wrestled Ryder Rogotzke of Ohio State, Max McEnelly of the University of Minnesota, James Rowley of Purdue and finished the Greco-Roman tournament with a 3rd-Place victory over Jared Thiry of South Dakota State. 2024 USAW Western Regionals (UT)
Congratulations to NWWC's Noah Schimke of Allyn, age 9, who traveled to Herriman, UT over the weekend of May 10th to compete at the 2024 USAW Western Regional Championships. Over the two days of competition, Mr. Schimke wrestled 5 matches and finished with four wins, two medals and the Greco-Roman Regional Championship. Congratulations Noah Schimke.

2024 FREESTYLE STATE CHAMP1ONS (WA)
Forty-seven NWWC wrestlers traveled to Pasco, WA over the weekend of May 3rd to compete at the 2024 WSWA Freestyle & Greco-Roman State Championships. Over the course of the two tournaments, NWWC racked-up 287 matches, 161 victories, 60 individual medals, 20 individual state titles, three Junior National Tournament berths, two 16U National Tournament berths, two triple crown awards and three Legends of the WSWA who continue to climb the WSWA freestyle hall of fame. As a team, NWWC finished first-place in the Freestyle tournament and fourth-place in the Greco-Roman tournament. Overall, the annual State Championships drew a record 2,214 entries from 131 wrestling clubs throughout the state. Congratulations to all forty-seven NWWC wrestlers.

2024 US OPEN (NV)
Seven NWWC wrestlers traveled to Las Vegas, NV over the week of April 24th to compete for a berth on TEAM USA at the 2024 US OPEN. Over the course of the five-day event, NWWC racked up 39 matches, recording 18 wins and returning home with three medals. Nothing more could be said about the trip, as what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Congratulations to all seven NWWC wrestlers.

2024 Slamfest (WA)
Thirty NWWC wrestlers traveled to Fife, WA on Saturday, April 27th to compete in the 2024 Slamfest FS & GR wrestling tournament. Over the course of competition, NWWC wrestled 143 matches and returned with 84 victories, 32 medals and 15 individual championships. Congratulations to all thirty NWWC wrestlers.

Lars Michaelson Wins Dave Schultz HSE Award
STILLWATER, Okla. - Today, the National Wrestling Hall of Fame announced the state winners of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award (DSHSEA) and NWWC's Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 18, brought home the honors for Washington State. The DSHSEA recognizes and celebrates the state’s most outstanding high school senior male wrestlers for their excellence in wrestling, scholastic achievement, citizenship, and community service.“The winners of our Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award are an amazing group of young men who have set the highest standards for personal achievement, excelling in the classroom and on the wrestling mat while also providing leadership and service,” said NWHOF Executive Director Lee Roy Smith. 2024 Thurston County Throwdown (WA)
Fourteen NWWC wrestlers traveled to Olympia, WA on Saturday, April 20th to compete in the WSWA Thurston County Throwdown. After both the freestyle and greco-roman tournaments were complete, NWWC had wrestled 78 matches and finished with 39 wins, 21 medals and 6 individual championships. Nine NWWC wrestlers traveled to Battle Ground, WA on Saturday, April 13th to compete at the inaugural Merle Crockett Classic wrestling tournament. Over the course of the day, NWWC wrestled 53 freestyle and greco matches and finished with 26 wins, 15 medals and 8 individual championships. Congratulations to all nine NWWC wrestlers.

2024 USAW Women's National's (WA)
Two NWWC wrestlers traveled to Spokane, WA over the weekend of April 12th to compete among the United States' top youth and high school female freestyle wrestlers at the 2024 USAW Women's National Championships. Over the course of three days of competition, the girls combined for five matches, and Anaya Patacsil of Fox Island, age 10, finished 4th in the 10U Girls 67 lb division, her second All-American honor of the year. 2024 NorCal Beach Kick Off
NWWC's Thor Michaelson of Stanford, age 20, traveled from Palo Alto to Pacifica, CA on Sunday, April 7th to compete at the NorCal Beach Kick Off, the first Beach Wrestling Tournament of the 2024 season. Over the course of a short day of competition, Michaelson bested three opponents each in under 40 seconds to earn a first-place finish in the Open Men's, 175 lb division. Congratulations to NWWC's Thor Michaelson.

2024 WOW Reno World's (NV)
Four NWWC wrestlers traveled to Reno, NV over the weekend of April 4th to compete at the 2024 WOW Reno World Championships, "the largest wrestling tournament in the world." Over the course of three days of competition, NWWC racked up 15 matches, 9 wins and Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 18, won the 18U, 195 lb championship and the iconic eagle trophy that comes with it. The 2024 WOW Reno World's drew over 3,000 of the country's top youth and high school wrestlers from 20 states. Congratulations to all four NWWC wrestlers.

Women's Columbia Cup (WA)
Two NWWC wrestlers traveled to Pasco, WA over the weekend of April 6th to compete at the 2024 Women's Columbia Cup, a three-style wrestling tournament. Altogether, Anaya Patacsil and Mi-Na Maya wrestled 15 matches, and finished with 12 wins, five individual championships and Anaya Patacsil of Fox Island, age 10, earned the 10U Outstanding Wrestler award. Twenty-six NWWC wrestlers traveled to Kent, WA on Saturday, April 6th to compete at the WSWA Takedown Express Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling tournament. Fourteen NWWC wrestlers traveled to Maple Valley, WA on Saturday, March 30th to compete at the 2024 South County Scuffle. 2024 Montana Open (MT)
Three NWWC wrestlers traveled to Billings, MT over the weekend of March 22nd to compete among 2,500 ferocious folkstyle wrestlers at the 2024 Montana Open. Over the course of the three-day event, Cyrus, Anaya and Mi-Na wrestled twelve matches, won six and brought home one medal. Congratulations to all three NWWC wrestlers.

2024 USAW NW 16U/Junior Regional's (WA)
Twenty NWWC wrestlers traveled to Centralia, WA over the weekend of March 22nd to compete for Team Washington at the 2023 USAW Northwest 16U/Junior Freestyle & Greco-Roman Regional Championships. Over the course of the two tournaments, NWWC wrestled 95 matches, earned 7 medals, finished with four individual titles and ultimately qualified four wrestlers for the 2024 USAW Junior Freestyle & Greco-Roman National Championships. The 2024 USAW Northwest 16U/Junior Regional Championships featured over 1,200 wrestlers representing sixteen states. Congratulations to all twenty NWWC wrestlers.

Forty-Eight NWWC wrestlers traveled to Centralia, WA over the weekend of March 15th to compete at the 2024 Twin City 3-Style Classic. Over the three days of competition, NWWC racked up 272 matches and finished with 156 wins, 46 medals, 15 individual championships and Colton Fernandez of Gig Harbor, age 10, finished first in all three style (Triple Crown Winner). Four NWWC wrestlers traveled to Cedar Falls, Iowa over Saint Patrick’s Day weekend to compete in the 2024 USAW Junior and 16U Folkstyle National Championships. When all was said and done, luck played no factor over the three days of fierce competition as the fearsome foursome racked up a dozen hard-fought and well-earned victories, three All-American honors and Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 18, finished first in the Junior Boys 215 lb division. Weekend Wrestling Results
Forty-eight NWWC wrestlers, ages 5-20 yrs old, spread out across Washington State and down into Corvallis, Oregon to compete in five tournaments over the weekend of March 9th, including twenty-nine wrestlers in the West Sound Middle School League Championships and one in the NCAA Pac-12 Wrestling Championships. All combined, NWWC captured forty-eight medals and eighteen individual titles over the weekend. Congratulations to all forty-eight NWWC wrestlers.

2024 WSWA Folkstyle State Championships (WA)
Fifty-three NWWC wrestlers traveled to the Tacoma Dome on Sunday, February 18th to compete among Washington's top 2,000 folkstyle wrestlers at the 2024 WSWA Folkstyle State Championships. Over the course of the 12-hour tournament, NWWC racked up 232 matches, 140 wins (60%), 75 wins by fall (54%), 36 medals and 7 individual state championships. Out of the 111 competing clubs, NWWC finished 3rd. Congratulations to all fifty-three NWWC wrestlers.

Nine NWWC wrestlers traveled to Eatonville High School on Sunday, February 11th to compete at the 2024 Battle In The Woods tournament, the last tournament before the Folkstyle State Championships. 2024 Northwest Folkstyle Challenge (WA)
NWWC played host to over 500 athletes from 51 wrestling clubs at Bremerton High School on Sunday, February 4th for the 2nd annual Northwest Folkstyle Challenge. Over the eight hours of competition, 70 NWWC wrestlers racked up 276 matches and finished with 149 wins, 85 wins by fall, 38 medals and 14 individual championships. As a team, NWWC finished 1st. 2024 Oregon Wrestling Classic (OR)
Eleven NWWC wrestlers traveled to Redmond, Oregon over the weekend of January 12th to compete at the 2024 Oregon Wrestling Classic. Over the course of the tournament, NWWC combined for 45 matches, 31 wins, 10 medals and four individual championships. 9th Annual NWWC Holiday Push-Up Champions
Congratulations to the twenty-one NWWC wrestlers and one NWWC coach who completed 3,000+ push-ups over the 2023 Winter Break. 2023 Northwest Ultimate Wrestler (WA)
Northwest Washington Wrestling Club hosted over 500 athletes from 34 wrestling clubs at Bremerton High School on Sunday, Dec 10th for the 11th annual Northwest Ultimate Wrestler. Over the course of eight hours of competition, 63 NWWC wrestlers racked up 251 matches and finished with 40 medals and 13 individual championships. As a team, NWWC finished 2nd. Eighteen NWWC wrestlers traveled to Spokane, WA over the weekend of November 17th to compete among the top youth wrestlers in the Pacific Northwest at the 2023 USAW Northwest Bigfoot Battle. Over the long day of competition, NWWC racked up 67 matches, 40 wins, 13 awards and five individual championships. The 2023 USAW Northwest Bigfoot Battle drew nearly 1200 entries from 114 wrestling clubs throughout the region. Congratulations to all eighteen NWWC wrestlers.

2023 RMN Freakshow (NV)
NWWC's Miles Brown of Tracyton, age 18, traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada over the weekend of October 13th to compete at the 2023 RMN Freakshow of Amateur Wrestling. Weekend Wrestling Results
Four NWWC wrestlers traveled down the west coast over the weekend of October 7th and lit up the 23-24 wrestling season with a first-rate performance at the 38th Annual CCC Takedown Tournament in Oregon City, OR and the 2023 California World Challenge in Fresno, CA. Lars Michaelson Commits to Stanford University
NWWC's Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 18, will follow his brother Thor in his decision to pursue academic and athletic excellence at Stanford University in the Fall of 2024. Michaelson currently holds a 3.7 GPA at Bremerton High School, twenty-one Washington State wrestling titles, three national championships and a world bronze medal. Michaelson is projected to wrestle at 197 lbs at Stanford. Congratulations to NWWC's Lars Michaelson.

The 2023-2024 Year in Review
260 NWWC athletes traveled to 12 states over the 2023-2024 Freestyle, Folkstyle, Greco-Roman and Beach wrestling seasons to compete in 70 wrestling tournaments. Throughout the course of competition, NWWC earned 96 WSWA state championship medals, 27 individual state titles, five USAW All-American honors, one national championship and one world medal. As a team, NWWC placed third at the WSWA Folkstyle State Championships, fourth at the WSWA Greco-Roman State Championships and first-place at the WSWA Freestyle State Championships. Of the 5,484 sanctioned USAW clubs, NWWC ranked 7th in the nation. Congratulations to all the NWWC wrestlers, family and friends on an excellent year in wrestling.

Four NWWC wrestlers traveled down to Illwaco, WA over the weekend of August 3rd to compete at the 2024 Beach Brawl 3-Style Throw Down. 2024 USMC/USAW Junior & 16U Nationals (ND)
Two NWWC high school wrestlers traveled to Fargo, ND over the week of July 12th to compete for Team Washington at the 2024 USMC/USAW Junior & 16U National Championships. Over the course of the tournament, NWWC wrestled nine matches defeating athletes from Arkansas, Ohio and California. The 2024 USMC/USAW Junior & 16U National Championships is recognized as the world's largest wrestling competition with over 8,000 entries from all 50 states, Guam and other US Territories. NWWC’s Jordan Dunigan of Silverdale, age 8, traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa over the weekend of June 28th to compete among the nations best youth wrestlers at the 2024 USAW Kids Freestyle & Greco-Roman National Championships. Four NWWC wrestlers traveled to Oaks, Pennsylvania over the week of June 10th to compete for Team Washington at the 2024 USAW 14U National Duals. Over the course of four days of fierce competition, the fearsome foursome racked up 43 matches and combined for 19 victories. 2024 FREESTYLE STATE CHAMP1ONS (WA)
Forty-seven NWWC wrestlers traveled to Pasco, WA over the weekend of May 3rd to compete at the 2024 WSWA Freestyle & Greco-Roman State Championships. Over the course of the two tournaments, NWWC racked-up 287 matches, 161 victories, 60 individual medals, 20 individual state titles, three Junior National Tournament berths, two 16U National Tournament berths, two triple crown awards and three Legends of the WSWA who continue to climb the WSWA freestyle hall of fame. As a team, NWWC finished first-place in the Freestyle tournament and fourth-place in the Greco-Roman tournament. Overall, the annual State Championships drew a record 2,214 entries from 131 wrestling clubs throughout the state. Congratulations to all forty-seven NWWC wrestlers.

NWWC's Thor Michaelson of Stanford, age 20, traveled from Palo Alto to Pacifica, CA on Sunday, April 7th to compete at the NorCal Beach Kick Off, the first Beach Wrestling Tournament of the 2024 season. Over the course of a short day of competition, Michaelson bested three opponents each in under 40 seconds to earn a first-place finish in the Open Men's, 175 lb division. Fifty-three NWWC wrestlers traveled to the Tacoma Dome on Sunday, February 18th to compete among Washington's top 2,000 folkstyle wrestlers at the 2024 WSWA Folkstyle State Championships. 2023 RMN Freakshow (NV)
NWWC's Miles Brown of Tracyton, age 18, traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada over the weekend of October 13th to compete at the 2023 RMN Freakshow of Amateur Wrestling. Over the course of the tournament, Mr Brown wrestled six matches and bested four opponents in a loaded 128-man bracket. Congratulations to NWWC's Miles Brown.

Weekend Wrestling Results
Four NWWC wrestlers traveled down the west coast over the weekend of October 7th and lit up the 23-24 wrestling season with a first-rate performance at the 38th Annual CCC Takedown Tournament in Oregon City, OR and the 2023 California World Challenge in Fresno, CA. Over the course of the two tournaments, the Michaelson and Moran brothers tallied twenty-nine matches, twenty wins, eight medals and two individual championships. Congratulations to all four wrestlers.

Lars Michaelson Commits to Stanford University
NWWC's Lars Michaelson of Bremerton, age 18, will follow his brother Thor in his decision to pursue academic and athletic excellence at Stanford University in the Fall of 2024. Michaelson currently holds a 3.7 GPA at Bremerton High School, twenty-one Washington State wrestling titles, three national championships and a world bronze medal. Michaelson is projected to wrestle at 197 lbs at Stanford. Congratulations to NWWC's Lars Michaelson.
